Blow Molding Processes

Blow molding is a cost-effective technique for creating thin yet durable plastic bottles without holes or defects. Our different process capabilities include:

• Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM). This method produces hollow plastic components by extruding a parison, or molten plastic tube, and inflating it within a shaped mold cavity. EBM is popular for creating containers and bottles of varying shapes.
• Injection Blow Molding (IBM). IBM can create small, highly precise, and intricate bottles within tight tolerances. It combines the techniques of blow molding and injection molding to create accurate forms with an excellent surface finish.
• Stretch Blow Molding (SBM). This blow molding technique involves stretching a preform radially and axially to improve its clarity and strength. The process is highly compatible with PET beverage bottle manufacturing.

Blow Molding Materials & Sizes

At Lerner Molded Plastics, we work with a wide range of materials that are compatible with diverse products and design specifications. Options include:

• High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This material is strong and resists chemical damage, making it a good choice for bottling detergent.
• Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE). Ideal for squeezable containers, flexible LDPE resists stress cracking and impact damage.
• Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). PET plastic is a popular choice for manufacturing beverage bottles because it’s clear and can create a gas barrier.
• Polypropylene (PP). Perfect for use with chemicals or heated substances, PP resists chemical damage and has a high melting point.
• Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Resins. Companies can use this recycled material to cultivate a sustainable and eco-friendly brand.

With a range of sizes available, the Lerner Molded Plastics team can blow-mold bottles to hold volumes of 2 ounces to 5 liters. We also have a library with more than 150 stock molds and 500 bottle configurations for easy, efficient customization and production tailored to your exact needs.

Design & Engineering

For custom bottle and plastic packaging, our in-house designers and engineers create detailed designs with 3D modeling and computer-aided design (CAD) software. We’ll also assist with developing prototypes and first article samples to ultimately refine the final product.

Decoration & Assembly

Our capabilities also extend to custom color matching, surface treatments, assembly and component integration, labeling, and packaging. We provide everything our clients need to ship out completed bottles from our factories to your processing or distribution centers.
