Plastic Injection Mold & Plastic Components for the Electronics Industry
Lerner Molded Plastics is a single source solution for injection molding, injection molding tooling, and mold making. This gateway hub and transmitter project represents a five component assembly. From the customer supplied 2D and 3D CAD drawings we developed all of the required tooling and fabricated all of the necessary molds. In accordance with the standards set forth by the Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP), first article samples were provided to the customer for acceptance. Utilizing our 220 ton injection molding equipment, we manufactured all five of the components in low volume quantities. The project consisting of a transmitter battery door and box, a 7″ gateway box, 3.75″ TX clip, and a body assembly flex tee. Molded in multi cavity dies, these parts were composed of green ABS-ULVO, and grey PC/ABS, in shot sizes that varied from 240g to 500g. A project such as this can be completed from design to delivery in just 8 to 12 weeks.
Blow Molding of a Hand Sanitizer Bottle for the Hygiene Industry
This precision blow molded plastic bottle highlighted here was designed for use as a wall mounted hand sanitizer dispenser. It represents Lerner Molded Plastics ability to provide complete manufacturing solutions. Composed of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE), it was blow molded on our Dual 8 blow molding machine. This advanced capability allowed us to meet tolerances of ±0.10mm throughout the 100,000 we produced.
The 3.5 liter bottle featured a textured finish, the customer supplied engineering drawings called out dimensions of 287mm in length, 149mm in in width, 135.5mm in height, and nominal weight of 206b (±5g). We also provided complete logistical services, the entire project from manufacturing, to packout, and shipping were completed in 8 to 12 weeks and in full ISO compliance. Precision Injection Molding ABS Anemometer Fan
As a full service provider of precision injection molding services, Lerner Molded Plastics has developed a reputation as a company that can provide cost effective solutions to difficult manufacturing projects. This particular endeavor posed several challenges, the intricate design of the fan and housing stretched tooling capabilities to their limits. The dimensions, tolerances, and volume required for molding were close to the mechanical limits of our equipment. Even with all of these adverse conditions, this project was completed on time and to the standards of quality that our customer expects.
The housing and fan were designed for use in an anemometer, and composed of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), in a custom iPod white color, and molded on our 165 and 220 injection molding equipment.
The housing featured dimensions of 3.12″ in length, 1.625″ in width, 4.625″ in height, with an outside diameter of 3.00″. The fan had an outside diameter of 2.670″, and a height of .869″. Both sections were required to meet dimensional tolerances of ±0.005″, and angular tolerances of ±0.5°. All of our manufacturing processes are subject to stringent quality measure; these two components received dimensional inspections prior to assembly and delivery. We currently manufacture 30,000 sets of these parts annually.
Plastic Extrusion of a Strap Anchor Roller for the Construction Industry
A manufacturer of construction supplies contracted Lerner Molded Plastics to provide the precision extrusion services for the strap anchor roller highlighted here. This plastic extrusion was made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and extruded on our 25mm, single screw extruder. This advanced equipment produces precision extrusions to tolerances of ±.005″, with high volume capabilities.
Working to the customer supplied drawings, which called out dimensions of 71mm (+0/-4) in length, an outside diameter of 15mm, an inside diameter of 12mm, with a volume of 4.5 cm3, and a smooth finish. Prior to production the customer was supplied with first article samples as well as all applicable documentation, per PPAP.
Our ability to manufacture high quality, cost effective extruded component has allowed us to develop long term customer relationships. This particular example represents quantities of 100,000 pieces per year.
Plastic Thermoforming of an ABS Housing for the Transportation Industry
Lerner Molded Plastics provides precision thermoforming services with the flexibility to accommodate the needs of a wide range of industries and applications. This project was manufactured for use as an on-board air conditioning housing used in a shuttle bus.
This heavy gauge ABS part features a custom color and a textured finish, and was thermoformed on our large rotary table thermoforming machine. With dimensions of 48″ in length, 20″ in width, and 11″ deep, it was manufactured to tolerances of ±.005″.
Thermoformed components of this size, manufactured with tight tolerances and custom specifications are a challenge for any manufacturer, and highlights our thermoforming expertise. We currently thermoform 5000 of these housings annually, with lead times of 8 weeks.
Plastic Rotational Molding of a Water Purification Tank
At Lerner Molded Plastics we specialize in plastic rotational molded products, in a wide range of sizes; this service is exemplified by this water purification tank. The tank was fabricated on our Large Hercules multiple spider rotational molding machine. The linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) used to fabricate the tank featured a minimum thickness of .125″. Tank halves measured 7′ 10.5″ in length, 4′ 9.5″ in width, and 1′ 7.75″ in height, and were fabricated with a textured finish.
Per our PPAP process first article samples were provided to the customer for approval. We currently roto mold 1,000 of these tanks per year with lead times of 8 weeks.
