Blow Molding Processes
Blow molding is a cost-effective technique for creating thin yet durable plastic bottles without holes or defects. Our different process capabilities include:
- Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM). This method produces hollow plastic components by extruding a parison, or molten plastic tube, and inflating it within a shaped mold cavity. EBM is popular for creating containers and bottles of varying shapes.
- Injection Blow Molding (IBM). IBM can create small, highly precise, and intricate bottles within tight tolerances. It combines the techniques of blow molding and injection molding to create accurate forms with an excellent surface finish.
- Stretch Blow Molding (SBM). This blow molding technique involves stretching a preform radially and axially to improve its clarity and strength. The process is highly compatible with PET beverage bottle manufacturing.
Blow Molding Materials & Sizes
At Lerner Molded Plastics, we work with a wide range of materials that are compatible with diverse products and design specifications. Options include:
- High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This material is strong and resists chemical damage, making it a good choice for bottling detergent.
- Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE). Ideal for squeezable containers, flexible LDPE resists stress cracking and impact damage.
- Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). PET plastic is a popular choice for manufacturing beverage bottles because it’s clear and can create a gas barrier.
